Hey yo hey yo hey yo hey yooooooooooooo!!! I'm back and better than ever. You're likely reading this on my new website - I changed hosts, and they have an iPhone app, and they integrate directly with my HeleFab Facebook page, so hopefully that equates to easier blogging for me and more entertainment for you!
I am breaking my social media fast a few days early, mostly because I'm wicked pumped to launch this new site. I have social media icons over on the sidebar there, but one thing to note is that I've updated my Instagram handle to be @helefab_ (why the underscore? Because some girl, whose first name is Helen and last name starts with Fab, already claimed the HeleFab handle. I can't even begin to build a business case there! She wins.)
Now. Social media fast, you say? "I couldn't ever do that!" and "I NEED TO DO THAT" were two common reactions to people learning I was off. Many people checked in with me over the last month, and I realized what a web of support I've got. This break was so necessary for me. I realized exactly how much time I was wasting - just scrolling through bullshit. Facebook feeds? 99% bullshit. Every time I picked up my phone I'd have to remind myself, "Find something else to do." I read numerous books (and yes, watched a lot of Netflix and Prime) but I was also blissfully ignorant to the news and any big happenings. My girls in my group texts kept me updated on the things I NEEDED to know about, but the rest? Political posts? People's opinions on everything from abortion to gay rights to gun control? The whining about this or that person's terrible hour/day/life? NAH NAH HONEY I'M GOOD.
So my plan, in regards to social media, will be majority Instagram and blogging here. I'll check in on Facebook (and IDWTBAT) maybe once a week, but I will not be making it a habit to be constantly accessible there.
I spent the majority of June and July on Whole30, and while it taught me a lot about my eating habits, what some of my triggers are, and broke me from getting hangry all the time, this is not a sustainable way for me to eat. The high fat / low carb ratio was great for my appetite - not great for my energy levels. (Yes, even when eating potatoes 2 meals a day. I followed the plan to a T - my body NEEDS carbs. Carby carb carbs.) I am sticking to no dairy, very limited sugar, no peanut butter (Y'ALL. I don't even miss it.), and the no alcohol thing for me is a breeze so I'm keeping that as well. I just feel like dick and arsehole after I drink, so we'll be keeping that to a general minimum.
So what will I do now? WHAT WILL I DO. I've done calories, macros, Whole30, and eating whatever the fuck I want - and none has been THE BEST for me and my body - so I'll be doing a little bit of everything. I'm not counting anything, but because I did that for so long I have a general idea of what's in everything and how much I should have. I'll be keeping most of my gym check-ins on Instagram, but I'll do some progress reports here as well.
Have a poke around here, check out the Weddings tab for some fancy updos (my best friend is getting married this weekend so I'll be adding more soon!), and the Contact tab has a direct link to my Advocare site if you're a Spark addict and need a hit.
Helen Foster aka HeleFab comin' atcha!
